Freshness

9.0 / 10
This course was last updated on 12/2020.

Course content can become outdated quite quickly. After analysing 71,530 courses, we found that the highest rated courses are updated every year. If a course has not been updated for more than 2 years, you should carefully evaluate the course before enrolling.

Popularity

We analyzed factors such as the rating and the ratio between the number of reviews and the number of students, which is a great signal of student commitment. If a course does not yet have a rating, we exclude Feedback Score from the overall CourseMarks Score.

New courses are hard to evaluate because there are no or just a few student ratings, but Student Feedback Score helps you find great courses even with fewer reviews.

About the course

This course is aimed at athletes and business professionals who regularly engage with the media, in this course you will learn the required skills to engage confidently with the media, whether it be for a television, radio or a podcast interview.

This class is for everyone who may have to speak in public; whether you are a CEO and experienced in media engagements, a spokesperson for an organisation, a student preparing for a class presentation or a professional athlete dealing with press conferences and post game interviews, I will steer you through different media scenarios so you can successfully navigate your way through this, often daunting, unavoidable obligation.

The tips I share in this class will help you feel more confident and better prepared for any upcoming media engagements such as TV / radio interviews or other situations where you will be working with the media.

What can you learn from this course?

The only way to improve is to practice, practice practice! There is no better way to ensure that you will become comfortable in front of the camera or speaking in public. So practice in front of the mirror, on the way to school or work or during your lunch break – just keep practicing!

To guide you in your first few practice sessions, I have given you a class project in which I would like you to prepare for a TV interview:

STEP 1: Please download and print the two attached documents. (One is a worksheet and the other is a handbook that summarises the video contents to help you in the project.) Next, please follow the instructions in Exercise 1. If you don’t have a printer, just answer the questions on some paper.

STEP 2: Read though the interview scenario and questions in Exercise 2 and make some notes in the space provided. Post your notes in the projects section.

STEP 3: Follow the instructions in Exercise 3. Use this exercise to see where you can improve and apply the B.L.E.N.D. techniques.

STEP 4: Complete the final project described in Exercise 4. The aim of this exercise is to apply and demonstrate the theoretical knowledge you have gained from the videos and Exercises 1 & 2 as well as the practical knowledge you discovered during Exercise 3.

Please remember to share your recordings by posting a link to your video in the SkillShare Project section.

Good luck. You’ve got this! (And remember to use the B.L.E.N.D technique!)
