My name is Bobby Henebry, and I have been playing music for over 30 years. I have also LOVED sharing music with people all over the world, having traveled to over 50 countries, most of them with my trusted Martin Backpacker travel guitar. Music truly is the universal language, and it brings people together across cultures.
Looking over my musical career, I played piano for 8 years as a child, and then played saxophone for another 8 years until college. In high school, I joined a ska band (Slow Children at Play – SCAP) that recorded an album of original tunes, and that opened up a new world of creating music. I found out that I really loved performing and writing music, and I haven’t stopped since. At age 16, I discovered Metallica and became obsessed with guitar, and I still work at learning their songs to this day. It’s a great challenge, and I love working at improving my guitar playing while sharing what I have learned with others. In college, I picked up bass guitar and joined a rock band (Five Second Rule). Throughout college, I consistently volunteered at Under the Couch, a live concert venue on Georgia Tech’s campus, where I ran open mic nights and operated sound for bands from around the country who performed at our little venue every weekend. I learned a lot about performing and working with other musicians, and over time I became a better musician because I was around the culture of music and got to watch professionals day in and day out.
In recent years I bought a drum set, and have become quite comfortable playing at home or with bands. All along the way, I have been writing and recoding my own music, and that journey continues with me taking some songwriting courses through Berklee College of Music, interviewing songwriters about the craft of songwriting through the Chord Savvy® Songwriter Studio segment on YouTube, and continuing to work at the craft of songwriting for my own originals. Being a creator is great fun. My passion for music has been a wonderful way to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds, and this course is another way to share what I have learned in order to help you on your musical journey.
I created Chord Savvy® in 2017 as a music education and entertainment platform to share my love of music with everyone, and I hope you learn and enjoy guitar as much as I do.
