Music Teacher
I have played the violin for most of my life – over 20 years. I have a huge passion for this wonderful and versatile instrument! I have been classically trained and have passed all eight grades with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and was awarded a Merit at Grade eight. Alongside the classical training I have received, I have also developed and adapted my skillset to suit a more traditional style of music. I have played in Country, Reggae, Ceildgh, Indie, Folk and Irish Groups and while doing so taught myself to ‘play by ear’ and improvise. I perform regularly at events, weddings and pubs (I’m also proud to boast that I have performed live on the radio and for Sky TV too!). I love playing, and the enjoyment it gives others, but over the years I have also found a huge satisfaction in teaching, and passing my skills onto others. I have many years experience in tuition, and have almost 100% pass rate for all my students who have sat the ABRSM Graded exams. (With the exception of one student, who overcame her nerves and did pass on her second attempt.) I currently teach three days a week at a local secondary school, where I offer tuition in the violin, piano and flute. I believe that my teaching style is coherent, patient and enthusiastic. I am confident that this is conveyed in my online video courses too. I take a huge pride in all of my students’ journeys and success, and should you take my course, I will endeavour to respond to all queries as soon as I can, offering you continued support as you master the wonderful instrument that is the violin!
