About the course

Did you know that most dog bites were from dogs that kids were familiar with? Mainly their own pet or a dog owned by a friend.
This 30 min class will talk about some of the times that we should leave dogs alone. It will also teach families about how dogs use their bodies to tell us they are uncomfortable.
Best of all your family will be learning a memory song with hand motions about body language and the times to leave a dog alone. This song will really help your family remember what we cover in class. You will see I am a terrible dancer, so feel free to laugh, enjoy, and have fun with the music and hand motions. The hand motions might make some of the parents feel silly but they really do help, studies have proven the hand motions help you remember. An Mp3 download of the song is included for practice at home.
The class is designed for families with kids 6-11 years. It is made for parents to watch it with their kids. As parents, it is our job to proactively keep our kids safe. This class, although designed to engage your kids, will also help parents.  You will get a better understanding of when dogs are likely to be uncomfortable and this will allow you to instruct/remind your kids what we cover in class.
This class doesn’t cover what to do when you see a strange dog but instead focuses on times when bites most often occur, in your own home or in the home of a friend or a family member. Of course, we won’t be able to cover all the times a dog could show aggression and we make no guarantees that this will keep your kids safe, however other parents have said this class really has helped them know how to be more proactive when it comes to their family’s safety around dogs.
