This course of workshops starts with simple beginner’s level and moves through to more advanced levels. Suitable for novices and more experienced guitarists wanting to explore the fingerstyle approach.
The course covers tricks and techniques, harmony, scales, chord construction, applying various techniques in different ways as well as demystifying often intimidating chord names, minor and major chord progressions, harmonics and a full classical piece.
We offer a variety of influences from different parts of the world. Fingerstyle techniques can be applied to virtually any genre. Although nails on the right hand (or left for left-handed people) are important, they are not essential. Many fingerstylists play without nails, using fingertips instead. Fingerstyle techniques can be applied to vocals as well as instrumentals.
Scales allow players to explore the fretboard extensively and encourages logical fingering. Tremolo technique can be applied to the playing of scales and runs, and, can be used in virtually any genre (not just classical and flamenco).
Understanding harmony, scales, and chord construction allows the student to figure out almost any chord and change chord inversions to suit melodic phrases, etc.
In traditional flamenco training, no diagrams, tablature or notation is offered. This encourages the student to hone their powers of listening, watching, visualizing and memorizing even complex pieces.
