Your Teacher, Journalist, Web Content Writer
Hi, I’m Petrina Berry and I have been a journalist and web content writer for more than 20 years. I’m excited to be your teacher and to help give you the tools to write killer content.
Since I was a child, I wanted to explore the world, meet interesting people and write about what matters. That’s why I chose to be a journalist.
I cut my teeth on regional and community newspapers and in my mid-20s, I scored the opportunity of a lifetime to work for fast-breaking newswire service The Australian Associated Press (AAP).
During my 10 years at AAP, I learnt so much from highly-skilled editors, fellow journalists and photographers about how to write well.
Excellent copy requires a range of skills including solid background research, the confidence to ask tough questions, intrepeting data, writing clearly and developing news instincts.
Working in a shrinking industry, meant I had to evolve. So, I branched out and learned Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and how to write a variety of web content, including explainer articles, evergreen content, guides, guest posting, YouTube video scripts and social media marketing.
I continue to write and edit for finance websites and mentor other writers.
Teaching others and watching them grow as writers gives me a lot of pleasure, which is why I’m now creating courses on Udemy.
I hope my courses help you learn what you need to know to reach your full potential.
Happy learning!
