About the course

So you want to become a web developer? Or least, want to know how the web works?

I don’t blame you. Web development is an in-demand skill that allows you work from anywhere and earn a great living.

Web development is what I learned back in 2015 that has allowed me to travel the world and work remotely for the last two years.

In this class, I’ll teach you all the basics that I think you need to know before choosing your long-term learning path in web development.

After taking this course, you will understand how the web works and how you can take part in building it.

In this class, we’ll discuss some major concepts behind developing for the web including:

  • Getting you up to speed about how the web works
  • Learning the difference between front-end vs back-end web development, and
  • Showing you how to deploy your own website

We’ll also go over some of the tools and languages necessary for web development including:

  • HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • PHP
  • SQL, and
  • Frameworks such as bootstrap and jQuery

My goal for this class is that, by the end, you will have a broad understanding of web development and become clear of how you want to use this important skill of web development in your professional career or for personal use.

So, if you’re ready to get started, click on the next video and I’ll see you on the inside.

What can you learn from this course?

It’s time to put all the knowledge you’ve gained in this course together to create your first website (or second, or third – it doesn’t matter).

I’m gonna give you a few options

  1. Build a site from scratch like we did in the majority of the class, or
  2. Start with getting signed up to hosting and get started building your site on Wordpress

It’s up to you either way! Just make sure to include the link to your new website in your project.

Just remember, anytime you don’t know how to do something, start Googling.

I’m not exaggerating here when I say that constant research is something you will need to do throughout your career as a developer and even if you came to just learn more about the web, learning how to research like a developer is a skill we can all definitely benefit from.

Developers after all are just problem solvers and the internet itself is a vast resource for learning anything, just like we have done within the course.

If you do need any extra help, just leave me a comment in the discussion box.

Best of luck and I’ll see you in the discussion section.
