Learning to play the drums should be fun, and there is no reason to be overwhelmed with information and rules from the very beginning when all you want to do is play. That’s why I have created this course. You’ll be playing the drums within minutes, and tracking your progress straight away.
This is an introduction to drumming technique for complete beginners. Although the concepts involved might be sophisticated, there is no reason why they should be presented in a boring humdrum way. That’s why all of the exercises in this course are to be played with backing tracks that have been especially written so you can experience how these exercises will be used in your drumming from the very beginning.
Throughout this five part course you will learn the basic hand techniques that are used all the time in drumming and are universal to any style you want to play. These concepts are known and used by all professional drummers, yet they are often overlooked or misunderstood by beginners, or taught too late when bad habits are already engrained.
In Part 1 of the course you will learn:
•How to correctly hold the drum sticks
•How to grip the sticks using the best balance and motion possible
•How to play with natural rebound strokes
•The three foundation rudiments: single strokes, double strokes and paradiddles; and how you can create inversions of these to make different sticking patterns
•How to play in time with a click track or backing track
•How to practice effectively and track your progress
•Insider methods for practicing exercises up to speed straight away
Included are 13 exercise routines with 5 different backing tracks to practice along with. These tracks are divided into 7 different speeds (35 tracks in total), providing a fun, musical way to track your progress. All the while you’ll be increasing your speed, control and accuracy at the drums.
Once you have completed this course you will have a solid foundation to your drum technique and in a position to learn the more advanced techniques needed in later parts of the course.
