Description
Hello fellow drummers and drumming enthusiasts!
Whether you’ve played drums your whole life or never picked up a stick, you’ve come to the right place.
I have been playing drums for Grammy-winning artists in multiple genres – both on tour and in the recording studio – for 32 years. I’m a Yamaha Drums/Sabian Cymbals/Vic Firth/Evans Drumhead artist.   You will learn proper technical and musical fundamentals from the ground up.
I began playing professionally at age 17. My first pro gig was with blues guitarist Bo Diddley Jr. at The Apollo Theater in Harlem N.Y. Shortly after I began playing weddings and events on Long Island until I was offered a partial scholarship to attend a special program at The Percussion Institute Of Technology in Los Angeles. After graduating and winning the award of “Best Jazz Drummer,” I was offered a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston, which I attended for 3 years until I started touring internationally with BMG artist saxophonist Ravi Coltrane (son of the legendary John Coltrane) .  From there I went on to work with a multitude of artists in pop, rock, latin, and jazz. I have had the pleasure of working with artists from Art Garfunkel, Suzanne Vega and Cher, to Mavis Staples and Patti Austin, to legendary jazz artists such as John Scofield, Christian McBride, The Manhattan Transfer, Take 6, and Chick Corea. In 2006 I was featured in an 8 page interview in Modern Drummer Magazine.
In the instructional arena, I have taught drummers at the world’s top music universities and schools, held worldwide clinics and workshops, and worked as an adjunct faculty at Rutgers University, NYU, UCLA, The New School, Berklee College Of Music, USC, Cal Arts, etc. Some of my private students include drummers who work or have worked with Gwen Stefani, Hall And Oates, Matchbox 20, house band for David Letterman, Meatloaf, Mike Stern, Ritchie Kotzen, Hillary Duff, Michael Bolton, etc.
My Udemy courses are filmed with the intention of being financially accessible for the student while providing essential content taught by a world-class drummer. To keep costs to a minimum, I do not use more than two camera angles or studio sound. I record my content simply yet effectively, demonstrating what needs to be taught much like a live “one-on-one” private lesson experience (which normally costs the student $100.00 per hour).  My students filming our private lessons and workshops is my inspiration for this information share on Udemy.   Here on Udemy, my students will gain affordable, robust content.  For those looking to pursue further coursework, intermediate and advanced lessons will be available in the near future as part of my comprehensive drum academy.
