About the course

This is a must see class for ALL new photographers, hobbyists, and anyone who wants to do photography without using the Auto Mode as a crutch.

Join Stephen Hicks, the Lead Photographer at Studio Jay, as he goes over the basics of using a camera on full manual mode.

In this class you’ll learn the basics of setting and adjusting a camera on fully manual settings.

You’ll learn:
•Aperture
•Shutter Speed
•ISO
•Effects and uses of all settings
•How to determine your own settings based on your current lighting conditions

What can you learn from this course?

Your project is to create a zoom-burst photo of your own!

You cannot achieve this using Auto settings, so Manual mode is the only way you’ll be able to get one of these images created, straight out of the camera.

Using the knowledge you have gained over the duration of the course, you’ll need to:

•Use the built-in light meter to determine the amount of light needed for your image.
•Make sure your shutter speed is a speed of 1″ (1 second) or slower.
•Leave your camera lens still for about 50% of your exposure time, then zoom back in, slowly, for the remaining time.

If you used the correct settings to compensate for the slow shutter speed, you should have been able to create a very interesting zoom-burst style image straight out of the camera with no editing software needed!

Please post your project to the class and feel free to ask for feedback or ask any questions you might have!
